Jason Mackenzie <ScotlandSuperhero>
"It's my city, it's my business"

"Night is Day" is Scotland's first superhero!

The series follows the adventures of Jason Mackenzie, Glasgow's superhero. Jason is a down on his luck twenty-something who decides to seek out someone who can give him the power of foresight to change his bad luch, however it goes wrong as Jason is given the ability to charge electricity in his body. Now whenever he touches anybody, he will pass electricity into their body and receive a mind numbing vision - forcing Jason to leap into action to save the innocent.

Jason now knows that if he holds on to someone for too long he could kill them, and maybe himself.

Life becomes complicated for Jason when he saves Amy, a young student journalist. The two grow close but they know they can never be together.

You can now buy series 1, with all 6 episodes and a DVD filled with special features for only £10 at http://www.nightisday.com

  • The latest Night is Day news!

Today Kris Summers (previously Chris Somerville!) who plays our superhero Jason Mackenzie, Eileen Young who originally guest-starred as the mysterious Sakura, who Jason found had taken over as his mentor as Ames (Alan Maclean) has went missing, and myself were invited on to Movie Cafe, Radio Scotland's movie and arts radio programme. There we talked about the first series of our superhero show being released on DVD (buy the two disc set at http://www.nightisday.com/buy-dvd.htm) our plans for series 2.

I've now wrote all the way up to episode 5 of series 2, which is an episode called "History" and we get to find out more about the evil Mr. Philips and the mysterious Caitlyn who has been following Jason for sometime.

On Saturday the 15th and 22nd of March we are auditioning 60 actors who will make up the cast for series 2 of our exciting series. Once our new cast has been formed we will be taking publicity shots for the website and for the press.

Plans aren't set in stone yet but as each episode of series 2 is going to be 25 minutes long we won't be broadcasting on the web anymore but you will be able to buy the DVD of series 2.

So instead of releasing series 2 online we will be making little webisodes, 5-10 stories about Jason, Sakura, Caitlyn, Mullan, Frank, Mr. Philips and some of the new characters joining us this series. We will release the episodes monthly for you to watch and they will comprise of flashbacks and prequels to the second series.

We hope to start writing these soon and filming them. Mark Harvey who plays Stevie and his twin brother Frank, who both work for Mr. Philips is currently writing "Frank" and we hope to film it soon. Mark will also be directing the film while I produce it.

It's all go go go for Night is Day at the moment and we hope it continues!

Transaudio, the fantastic Glasgow band who write and perform the theme tune to the series will also have new songs throughout the series and Kym Huyhn will also be contributing songs to the series while master composer Steve Dunster will return to add his touch to the series.

Be sure to visit http://www.nightisday.com to be kept up to date.

  • Night is Day on the road!

First of all we've just about finished the Night is Day DVD! We'll be taking pre-orders soon for the series 1 DVD which includes all 6 episodes of series 1, a 50 minute making of documentary, music videos, trailers, interviews, outtakes and a production gallery. All for £10!

We're also going to be selling exclusive "Night is Day" hoodies for £25 each, or £30 if you buy the DVD and the hoodie!

On the 2nd and 3rd of February the team will be heading to Inverness to attend the Hi-Ex International Comic Expo where famous comic book artists will be attending to talk about their work. We will be there to promote the series, sell the DVD and we will also be involved in the discussion panels about Superheroes and comic book films.

We've also been approached about giving a preview of the series at this year's Memorabilia in Birmingham in March the 29th and 30th so fingers crossed with that.

We're also holding auditions in Glasgow for our 2nd series in March and filming starts in May in Glasgow.

    It's all go go go!

I watched the first episode a while back, I enjoyed it. It's actually refreshing to see a show created on a tight budget, and I think it makes it seem more real. Plus the Scottish accents make me melt. :D

Kudos to everyone working on Night is Day.
